Everdale Prosperity Challenge Round 1: The Rossiter Family
You will recall the Rossiters are the family with five kids and no parents. So teen Jarel will be taking care of his younger siblings.

When we left, Jarel was taking care of his little sister Evlin who went into aspiration failure when their mother died.

Woody and Whistler mourn inside the new house.

Arlo cries in the bathroom.

Attempts to potty train Evlin fail when she is too upset about the death.

Jarel cheers for her anyway.

Evlin fantasized that it's her mother cheering.

Awww.

I kinda love crying toddlers. Which is unrelated to my feelings for Evlin at the end of this entry.

Aww, Woody is still so sad.

But life goes on. They had to hire a nanny as Jarel had to get a job. The only kid that really interacts with her is Evlin.

Jarel attempts to show off his cooking skills after work. Let's see how it goes...

Success!

There are enough beds for everyone, unlike at the Gable house. But Evlin's crib is in the hallway so she can't wake anyone else up with her screaming.

Aww, almost feel sorry for her. But really I feel sorry for poor Jarel who has to deal with all this.

Homework time, after day 1 of school...

Eh, for Arlo

Eh, for Woody

Whistler looks like it's worse than eh, but really it's just eh.

Jarel attempts potty training again.

STAY. THERE.

This child is trouble.  I thought 3 nice points would be worth something.

You won't use the potty, now you cry that you're stinky. Serves you right! But your poor brothers don't deserve this!

Arlo and Whistler have friends over.

But Woody takes pity on his sister and plays with Evlin.

The boys sleep at night. Where is Evlin?

Smelly and trapped downstairs.

Yeah, don't whine to me. I tried to help you.

Arlo boos Evlin.

That girl is really really gross.

More crying in the crib. She looks so sad. I feel bad for the dirty dirty girl. When does she grow up?

Homework time again...

Eh, for Whistler

Eh for Arlo

A+ for Woody!

Too bad he has no one to run and cheer to. Poor orphans.

Finally! It's time to the terrible toddler to age up!

'

Uh oh...be happy for the moment Evlin. The realization of your bad growing up will hit you soon.

Exactly.

She's cute...

but...

The tantrums begin.

And continue the next morning at breakfast:

Next on the Rossiters: will Jarel be able to take care of all these kids, work and keep on top of his school work? Take a wild guess. Will Evlin still be the bane of the house? Will the triplets develop distinct personalities as they become teens?

Poor Jarel, he's had his work cut out for him, and no mistake. At least you managed to keep the social worker at bay, so that's something. Maybe life will improve now? Woody already has a personality coming, as he seems to be quite kind. I mean, he took pity on Evlin, despite having to battle through green mist! (I don't think I've ever seen such an unfortunate start for a toddler. Even I pitied her! I bet it was hell for you though>) Well done for getting through what must have been a very difficult round.

I had originally envisioned Evlin as the darling of the family, being the youngest and only girl. So not working out that way! I'm glad you were able to pity her, by the end, I really wasn't too fond of her at all.

Also, thanks so much for your comments...I was so nervous about posting.

It is kind of bad that so much trouble comes from an event that is not really part of the prosperity challenge at all, but just plain Maxis dumbness with regard to making families. I respect the way you have written it into the story though. Good luck! Hopefully things will improve with time - if you can keep them alive till the boys become teens, things should get much easier!

I just found you, via Mordana (again, I think I've been here before but couldn't find the start page), and I'm catching up with your hood.
This family reminds me of my Korskrogen kids. They all grew up dysfunctional, just for your comfort ;)

I'm surprised my kids are doing as well as they are...compared to that disaster Gable house where they had three adults and everything fell apart.

Glad you found me, thanks for reading!

HAHAHA, oh that's funny. I like your style of updating. Evlin will be a prima donna, maybe?
